The PSU is a tad over 1" longer than standard, so I might be ok and might not. I found the case by accident while looking at reviews at www.3dgameman.com . He is pretty straight forward. The liquid cooling components are very good quality and the case should be fairly quiet. You cannot by a case and the components seperately for that price. I will probably have the 4x 500gb drives and maybe a smaller 80gb or so for OS and Office apps. The 500s will be in 2 raid-0 arrays for audio/video editing. If need be, a Dremel will do wonders.........:-). Ed > |

If need be, a Dremel will do wonders.........:-). I do have the older version P180, but I measured my power supply and held the ruler up to see where 18 cm would extend. The fan is held by a plastic holder. How to remove instructions (and video!): http://www.silentpcreview.com/article255-page5.html More good case tips: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article249-page1.html I found some right-angle power connectors at Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812123167 and... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812145011 ....which could be spaced too far apart, but you may not be adverse to a little cutting and splicing. Four drives are all that fit in the bottom, so you'd have to stick the fifth somewhere else, anyway. Here's a right angled SATA II cable: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812123111 ....and, uh, silent fan reviews: www.silentpcreview.com/article695-page1.html Heatsinkfactory.com has a lot of these, and waterblocks, and they don't run up your shipping on multiple little things. |

Thank you much for the trouble looking all that up........:-) I had been looking for the right-angle cables and had not found them yet, so that is a big one. I am going to order some 7.1 speakers today at Newegg, so might as well get the cables too. Parts are trickleing in, no case or MB yesterday, so I should see the rest arrive today to get started fitting the case. I have plenty of quiet 80 and 100mm fans here in my shop, so I should be ok in that department. I also have some old watercooling stuff too. I am betting that I will have a chipset waterblock if I decide to go that way. Waterblocks for the video are expensive as hell with some versions for the 8800s going for $250-300 for the two cards. I will wait and see on those. Thanks again for all the help. Ed > |

Re: E4300 / 680i overclocking
Those 8800 GTS cards look very long in the pictures.
Because of the space allowed for a fan in front of the removable upper drive bay on the P180 and the video card manufacturers' propensity for protruding power plugs, I predict possible problems. A two inch deeper case or sideways mounted drives would have made for a better design. I was toying with the idea of turning the upper bay sideways, but that would block the airflow, unless holes were also cut... |

The floppy connector and two right angle SATA connectors are just past the end of the display adapter. The + 12 VDC socket for the 8800 GTS is flush with the front edge and at the top corner, so the + 12 VDC plug and the radius bend take up an additional inch. The 0.5 inch of radius bend in the cable extends past the motherboard edge by that much. I may need to do a bit of Dremel work on the top drive bay....:-). I won't know for sure until I get everything fitted and measured. Ed |
