Canon i560 problem

I refilled the Canon cyan cartridge and a few days later it said it had to
be refilled again. Now a few days later again it said it needs to be
refilled. I checked the magenta and yellow cartridges and they are
contaminated with cyan. Obviously the cyan cartridge was leaking but how did
it contaminate the other two cartridges? What caused the cyan cartridge to
leak in the first place? What should I do before replacing all color
cartridges?

I am not the one to advise on refilling Canon cartridges and why the leak may
have occurred but I can say with certainty that I have seen maybe 5 cases in
the last year where cross contamination occurs in Canon printers using that
series of printhead (includingb the ip3000 and ip4000 printheads). This happens
with OEM and non OEM ink, it normally shows in the yellow cartridge first
probably because yellow is less dense and the colour changes are obvious.
Replacing the cartridges and running 1 or 2 cleaning cycles has always
corrected the issue. My guess, and it is only a guess, is that some sort of
capillary action occurs but I have no idea what starts it. This has been
reported to Canon and they are "investigating".
