HP 'pressures retailers' over store-brand ink cartridges (ZDNet UK via Yahoo! UK & Ireland News)

Hewlett-Packard, the biggest maker of computer printers, has approached office supply retailers to stop selling store-branded printer cartridges rather than ones from HP and offered them incentives if they end the practice, BusinessWeek reported on Thursday.

Staples probably didn't need much prodding to drop HP from their lineup.
I'd have to guess they po'd their customers quite often. They were selling
"remanufactured" HP cartridges at 90% the cost of new HP. We know how
troublesome a "remanufactured" cartridge can be. I presume many customers
felt cheated when they paid so much for a "remanufactured" cartridge that
failed.

It's okay. Won't be long there will be printers arising from Asian
companies and the ink to power them as well. The big printer makers are
already manufacturing in that region. People are watching and learning.
