CalComp 5500 Series Model 5536
Hello All,
Back in Oct. 11, 2005 an Aussie reported an error with his CalComp Techjet 5500 plotter on this newsgroup. The error message is "fatal service station error". After leaving unit off all night then it came up with a media jam. Then the fatal service station error returned. I was not able to locate any response to his inquiry. Anybody here have any experience with CalComp products? Or know of a CalComp discussion group? Mike in Ohio |

Did you ever get a response to this? I'm the guy in Australia. The plotter still drives me nuts occasionally, as sometimes you can boot it up and it'll do a perfect plot, other times, it's so stubborn that you go through 20 or 50 power-up cycles before it decides to NOT give you the "fatal service station error" message and actually allow you to do a plot. Of course, by the time you've done the 20 or 50 boot cycles, it's flushed all the inks out of the reservoirs and into the waste tank because of the cleaning cycle it does every time you turn it on. At $430 a set of cartridges, you can understand why I'm not willing to buy any new ones (I haven't bought any ink as yet since the machine came with two sets of new ones for free but they're nearly gone now anyway). Not having the schematics doesn't help. It's a great machine, when it's working. Surely somebody knows about this problem? |
