Lexmark Printer not cutting it w/ Vista
I have a Lexmark printer all in one. We got a new computer
with Vista, and the printer will not work. I downloaded a new driver . . . still doesn't work. Any suggestions as to my problem would be appreciated. I await your expert responses. Jacob |

Re: Lexmark Printer not cutting it w/ Vista
Had the same problem as you so I tossed my Lexmark when I loaded Vista.
Bought a Canon all in one MP470, works great with Vista and very simple to setup. I paid 79.99 for it on sale at Best Buy. It also works with XP. When I upgraded to XP years ago I had to use Windows 2000 Pro drivers inside XP to get some hardware working. |

To the best of my knowledge Lexmark don't make printers, that is proper
printers. "Thomas Minter" <> wrote in message news:473f1579$0$20647$... >I have a Lexmark printer all in one. I have a Lexmark 4270 all-in-one. I really don't want to buy a whole other printer:-( |

The crappy Lexmark drivers wouldn't work. Apparently, the printer doesn't communicate with the computer in bi-directional mode, so the computer thinks the printer is offline. The work-around was to disable (un-check...) bi-directional printing in the printer setup. This means I have to shut off and turn back on the printer after it is thru printing. Cumbersome, but until Lexmark cleans up their act (or Microsoft comes out with Service Pack 1) it allows me to print. YMMV |
