Trying to use a parallel printer on USB

Hi
I've been trying to set up my Canon BJC-80 (parallel) to work on my Dell
Laptop (XP) that only has USB ports.
I've installed the drivers but I cant get it to print.
I've tried setting the port to LPT 1 and USB Virtual printer port but no
joy.
Any tips would be very welcome.
Thanks
Dave

With a USB to Parallel cable you should have a virtual LPT port,
probably LPT1.
Verify this first and then install the printer, using the appropriate XP
driver, selecting that LPT port, and _not_ the USB port.
The USB port is only used as physical connection, the driver "sees" only
the LPT port.
I hope this printer is still supported by XP.
