Replacement for Epson R220?
My faithful old R220 is starting to die on me (same mechanical noises as
a previous R200) and want to look for a replacement printer. One that:- 1) Is at least as good at photo printing as the R220 (ie 6+ colour). 2) Will print on printable CD/DVD 3) Can use a Continuous Ink System (or has easy to fill cartridges). 4) Isn't expensive to run ie I don't need to be buying new heads, etc all the time. I prefer Epson but would consider Canon but not HP (unless they have produced something outstanding and cheap). Most printing is either on CD/DVDs or semi/glossy (A4 or 4x6inch)photo papers and I need the photo quality to be up to scratch (thats why a 4 colour printer isn't really up to it). I must admit I'm a bit puzzled why many printers have gone back from 5/6 colour systems to 2 blacks(normal/photo) + CMY, but I am open to such a 5 cartridge printer if I can get proof the quality is as good as what I am used to. Any advice welcome. |

As a faithful Epson printer user for many years, i finally gave up on them after my last one died... I made the switch to Canon for the fact they have cheap, easily replaceable printheads, cheap 3rd party ink and you can attach a CIS to them... I am of course talking about the older models available on Ebay... models, IP3000, IP4000, IP5000, IP6000D. Newer models are all chipped cartridges. If in USA or Canada, you can easily convert them to print to cd/dvd by buying a tray from ebay and doing a simple printer adjustment. StrykerŪ |
