Problem with my HP Printer

I use a HP Deskjet 6122 (very similar to HP 970cse). The ink light keeps
flashing. It uses the HP 45 and 78 cartridges. It tells me that "the color
cartridge is improperly installed, is defective, or the wrong cartridge".

I installed new cartridges but the ink light keeps flashing and the printer
continues to refuse to print.

Any idea of what the problem might be? Otherwise I will have to toss it,
reluctantly.

Recommend Hp site on Software & Driver Downloads. Also, try unplugging
both power & USB cables for about 5 seconds , then replug both & restart
your PC. I guess you chkd for possible damage to contacts on back of
cartridges; also, clean the cartridge craddle area by blowing w/ a "duster".
Maybe the cartridges are not seated properly. Peruse
