Scanning resolution query
I am about to buy a replacement all in one printer /scanner for my existing
Epson printer and am looking at two models EpsonDX7400 and DX4440 The DX 7400 has a direct print facility which I don't need, a scan resolution of 2400X1200 and 5 tanks The DX4440 has no direct printing and a scan resolution of 600X1200 and 4 tanks Queries are; is the scan resolution of 600X1200 adequate for most purposes? Is there an advantage in having 5 tanks? I understand that the extra tank could be for the colour you use most- in which case I assume it would always have to that colour otherwise there could be a clash of colours. Blair |

The confusion may be due to the availability of a dual black cartridge offer, this is actually two individual black tanks in a slightly cheaper package. Scanning resolution depends entirely on your needs but in general 600x1200 is fine for most domestic and small business purposes. If you want to scan photographs or slides at very high resolutions a separate scanner would be a better device to consider. Tony MS MVP Printing/Imaging |
