Laser printers: which brands provide a full toner with the new printer?

Hi all,

Which brands actually provide a full toner cartridge/toner+drum with
their new printers? A friend is looking at Brother, Canon, and Samsung
laser MFCs and has been given conflicting advice at retailers.

Cheers,

Ari

They all have a full life drum.... I haven't known of any that come with
full toners... all have a half filled starter toners included.

I'm confused then - I thought a lot of the lower end ones had toner+drum
units combined for replacement?

This is somewhat true... depending upon the type and manufacturer of the
printer.... My Samsung CLP-300 is a color laser... it is a low cost, low end
color printer and its toner and drum is separate.... it uses 4 toner drums
and 1 single drum.
I have a Minolta-Konica low end monochrome laser and its drum and toner can
separate to use the drum 2 times for full life.
Most toner cartridges can be use at least twice if you refill them with
toner and replace the chip that's on them.... the drum part can last at
least 2 refills. So if you figure you have a starter cartridge... it is half
full of toner, yet the drum part is a full life drum.... so according to
manufacturer you toss the starter with a drum that is only at half life...
what a waste... when if you refill it you can get 1 1/2 times the life from
the drum.
I have refilled my monochrome Samsung ML-2151N and got 2 times the life from
the drum simple by refilling with toner and replacing the attached chip.
So, as I said... even though the toner is half full... they waste a
perfectly good full life drum by only using half the life in it. Its easier
for the manufacturer to simply fill the cartridge half full of toner than it
is to manufacture a half life drum. they use what they have but only fill it
half way up to save a few pennies. They are real cheapos when it comes to
giving toner/ink.
