Exclamation Need help: audio not working!!

Hey::

I got a virus on my computer, so I reformatted my harddrive and reinstalled my os. Unfortunatly, in the process I lost all of my drivers. I was able to recover my internet driver, so I can get on the web to download the other ones, but I ran into trouble with my audio driver. I have no audio card, only a little metal box extending from my mobo. I am running Microsoft Windows XP SP2 on a Sony Vaio desktop processor with a Foxconn p450-vx mobo. Can somebody refer me to where I can get the audio driver for this? If you need more info, just ask. I am kind of a newbie, so I'm not sure what else to put here.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: Need help: audio not working!!

I cant find any direct info about that board, Is the sound board part of the motherboard or does it sit in a little slot of the board ?

Allso... Have you tried windows update ? There may well be drivers for the soundcard on the divers section.

Re: Need help: audio not working!!

sorry, but I cant find anything

all that I can see is an ingraving on the box where I would have said the sound card would be that says 'foxconn'

if it helps at all there is a little sticker on it, probably used by the manufacturer, and it says 'urm'

dont have a clue what that is supposed to mean.

Re: Need help: audio not working!!

It may be a model or serial number. A google search with those details may help.

Allso have a look at the chips on the motherboard, normaly the second largest one thats soldered to the board is the "southbridge" chip. The numbers and letters on there may help.

If you have a good quality digital camera you could take a picture of the motherboard and post it here.
