Rep Power: 0 ![]() | E6550 on ASUS P5LD2X i had this motherboard for my intel E6550 2.33 Ghz core 2 duo processor. and it seems working fine however when i check my system info. my PC runs at 1.86 Ghz only. it says on my board that to achieve 1333 FSB you need to Overclock your board? is that a good idea?. will it pose any threat to my CPU? was it a good motherboard choice?. | ƒ(ψ)=ΘΊΧφ ![]() | Re: E6550 on ASUS P5LD2X Overclocking should not do any harm if your system is stable. Go to your BIOS and in FSB increase it by 5 at a time, reboot into Windows, run some benchmarks like Prime95 Stress test, Si-Soft Sandra, keep a note of CPU, mobo temp (you can use SpeedFan to monitor temps) and if your system is stable under stress test for say 30mins or so, reboot go to BIOS, and increase FSB again and see the max you can overclock. btw -- you could have got a P35-DS3 __________________ Please don't click here |

| Senior Member (500+) | Re: E6550 on ASUS P5LD2X Go for some other mobo. ... particularly since there are other cheaper alternatives ... U can take a look at the XFX 650i Ultra mobo .. costs just over 5k's INR , but considering the loads of functionalities and features , its worth every penny .. And about P5LD2X , i think u should have some option within the bios to enable the 333 MHz FSB on the newer CPU's , like the E6550 ... if it doesn't have the option already then i'd recommend u to update the bios ...
