Is it possible to upgrade a Laptop processor like we do with the desktop? Any idea if the Laptop motherboard supports multiple processor. Again for that how do I find out what motherboard my laptop has?

I am not sure about the processor but you can upgrade your RAM and HDD for making your PC fast for playing games etc.

It is possible, but not really worth it. The socket on laptops are limited to only a few processors, and normally they are not much faster than the other. So you'd only be upgrading up a few MHz. You'd be much better off putting the money aside for a new laptop.

It's actually a waste of money. Like Tayne said, you're limited by the socket. Of course, if you have the money and enough patience to look for the right processor, you can do it. Personally, I'd only upgrade the RAM and maybe the HDD.

Re: Is it possible to upgrade a Laptop processor?

The motherboard in your laptop is tailor-made specifically for the CPU it has, so even if you can swap out the processor (which often you can) it is unlikely you will be able to improve performance and it might not work at all.

Re: Is it possible to upgrade a Laptop processor?

Even if you do manage to change the processor,it won't provide you the performance,as mostly the older Motherboard would bottleneck the performance of the newer processor. So i don't think so it's a wise idea to upgrade processor.

Hmm! But then just adding an extra amount of ram would not make a lot of difference too. Again there would also be limitations on the max amount of ram you can use. If not mistaken my lappy allows a max of 4GB RAM.

So finally you have only one option, ie to go for a new and better laptop
