The best CPU upgrade for Dell Dimension 2400 would be a Pentium 4 2.8 GHz (Socket 478 / 533MHz FSB / 512k or smaller cache). You should be able to buy one online for under €10.

Re: Dell Dimension 2400 - Need a new/used CPU P4 would be nice, Any help?

Cheers pal il have a look, I was thinking of going over the 2.8GHz mark
to something like 3+ GHz. Il have a look and see what I can dig up

I know its gotta be Nothwood, Socket 478, 533MHz FSB, 512k cache.

Is there anything else I should know before I buy one and its not compatible or am I good there?

Thank u for the help pal.

You can; but the chipset only supports up to 2.8GHz. So there is no point in buying something with a higher clock speed.

As long as you buy one with the specs listed above, you should be alright.

Good luck.
