overclocking?

hi guys, was just wondering....what is overclocking and is it worth doing, if so, can i do it on my pc?

all help will be appreciated

Re: overclocking?

Overclocking is when you manually set the clockspeed of your CPU, GPU, RAM, FSB, NB, etc. With RAM you can also change the latency and sometimes you can "unlock" cores in your CPU.

Before even considering overclocking or tweaking anything you need to do a lot of reading. You could start here:
3 Step Guide To Overclock Your Core i3, i5, or i7 | Overclockers


Also don't forget that unless your system already runs much cooler than currently necessary, overclocking is not a "free upgrade". You will get a LOT more heat being chucked out as soon as you tweak anything, and more power being consumed.
