nVidia 6200: Is this the perfect AGP low-end card?

In the joy of the exams getting over...I wanted to upgrade my PC. Then I realized that Windows Vista was going to be released ...and to run ''aero'' I needed a graphics card, but being on budget i had only 3000 bucks. So I didn't have much options. So I got a XFX 6200 128MB.

Price???
This card is pocket friendly, I got a XFX 6200 128MB for just 2.8k. I bought the AGP 8X model because I did not have a PCIe slot, the PCIe version retails for 2.5k. For the PCIe platform there are two models available 6200 & 6200TC.

What the hell is ''TC'' ??????
The TC or Turbo Cache is pretty much of no use. What it does is that it allows you to share your physical , system memory with the graphics memory. And for a 6200 128MB is more than enough. In fact I would recommend a 128MB over 256MB for various reasons.

Cooling & Temps: This card uses passive cooling. Its good because it dosen't add to the noise. But as soon as I got it,I added a 80mm fan to it. The temps are very pleasant, It idles up at 40 degs to 45 degs, (active cooling) and at load goes up to 50 degs to 56 degs. (avive cooling)

Package Contents & Features:

*This comes with DVI and S- Video out for hooking up TVs.

*I driver CD which included CoolBits, free games (demos) ,
*A S-Video to RF cable.
* A quick manual.

Performance?????

The performance is the main thing! Actually you can't expect much from these cards. But the performance to price ratio rocks!

Here are the specs of the card,

Core Clock: 350 Mhz
Memory Clock: 400MHz
Pixel Pipelines: 4 (lol)
It supports all Direct X 9, Pixel Shader , Shader Model 3.0 etc etc.

The main reason for getting this card was to run aero. This card runs aero with no probs at all! Microsoft says that even a FX 5200 will do, but believe me you ought to have at least a 6200 or above. But I am taking about resolutions of just 1024*768.

I also ran a few benchmarks, but I'm too embarrased to put up the numbers!

Gaming :

Well this card is not meant for gaming. And I'm not into gaming either,so I didn't even have games to test.
But then I popped the Digit DVD and installed a few games. All games ran perfectly without any probs but I played them at their default settings without any AA/AF. It ran Crash Day , Time Shift etc etc. But after my experiences,I concur that it is card not all that bad for a budget gamer .

Pros! & Cons!

+Nice Price
+good Performance for the price you pay .
+Has DVI and S- Video out.
+ you can ''play'' all games
+Doesn't require much power. Even a generic 300 watt SMPS with 10 amps across +12v rail will do!

Cons
-Isn't that good for High End gaming.
That's about it!!

Final Verdict: This card is really for people who are on a budget. I also concur that this card is ''OK'' for gaming. The TC feature is useless. Don't for more than 128MB, because a 6200 doesn't have enough power to make use of more memory. If your pockets are empty, then no need to wait! Get this as soon as u can! But the 6600LE is just round the corner which is tad better.

Value for money should be 4 and not greater than it.
Because you get 7300 LE at around 3.2k which is lot better than 6200. Its your problem that you dont have PCIe slot

AND THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AS AN IDEAL LOW END GRAPHIC CARD http://www.deltapage.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=29_40&products_id=70

^^
Actually I didn't even know that the 7300LE is available for 3.2k....I thought that its for 4.5k....and I think this review is slightly inclined towards the AGP platform....And for the AGP platform the choices are limited..as it gettin out dated.... besides there are a bunch of people out there who don't have a PCIe slot!

I think it's absent for the main review post, but see his subsequent posts, it's available there.
