HP C4385 All-in-One Scanner, Printer Copier & Norton Internet Security Problem
I have my HP C4385 Photosmart All in One (scanner, printer, copier)
connected to my computer via its built-in wireless 802.11g connection. I can print to it via the wireless connection while running my antivirus software, but I can not scan. When I attempt to scan, I get a message telling me that "hpqscnvw has stopped working." If I disable my firewall, I can scan and the picture will be transferred to my computer automatically. I have tried searching for "hpqscnvw" but that file is not found on my computer. I guess what I really need to know is which program or .dll I need to include in the list of programs the firewall will allow to access the internet so my scanner can transfer pictures back to my computer. I am running Windows Vista on a brand new HP desktop with 3gb of RAM. Any ideas anyone? |

Re: HP C4385 All-in-One Scanner, Printer Copier & Norton Internet Security Problem
This may not help, but I thought I would pass along my experience. I am
using an HP C7280 All in One, using MS Vista Home Premium OS. It is also a 802.11g wireless device. I have had about 90% success in scanning using the HP Digital Imaging software. The rest of the time, I have had crashes of hpqscnvw.exe, with the message "hpqscnvw has stopped working." I suspect you are not having problems with a firewall - that wouldn't cause failure of the hpqscnvw.exe, just lack of response. In my case, that executable is located at C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin. Have you run HP Update, to make sure you have the latest HP software? My hpqscnvw.exe is version 9.0.0.108 "BPC" <grandprixx@sbcglobal.net> wrote in message news:x0s_i.7807$3Z2.2173@nlpi069.nbdc.sbc.com... >I have my HP C4385 Photosmart All in One (scanner, printer, copier) >connected to my computer via its built-in wireless 802.11g connection. I am also having this problem with a HP Scanjet 3800 & vista. It has
been running fine for the last 4 weeks and now suddenly I can't use my scanner at all, I just keep getting the message "hpqscnvw has stopped working". I've checked for ugrades and I am all up to date... Very annoying! |

Can you roll back to an earlier time in System restore? You may be able to remove the latest Windows Updates, that may have caused this problem. -- CSM1 http://www.carlmcmillan.com -- |
