If you have UAC enabled, along with Windows Defender and Windows Firewall, no Anti virus or firewall is currently required for Vista.

NOD32 works on Vista, flawlessly (I use it), but if you have Windows Sidebar enabled along with NOD32 to auto-run at startup, startup time will increase by a lot, and the sidebar may take a long time to appear.

However if you are still unsure about your safety, then there are 2 free AV for Vista atm :

eTrust® EZ Antivirus for Windows VistaTM Beta : https://www.my-etrust.com/SubscriptC...855&lang=en-US
PC-cillin™ Internet Security 14.56 : https://www.trendbeta.com/index.php?get=80 (trail version till Oct 31st, 2006)

I re-installed avast! and now its working....I use NOD32 in XP....but avast! is nice as it consumes only 4MB memory .....

Also can anyone confirm is there Ready Boost in 5384????

yes it is present in 5384, but I don't have any flash drive to test it on.

These are the requirements :

1. The USB key must be at least USB 2.0;
2. The device must be able to do 3.5 MB/s for 4 KB random reads uniformly across the entire device and 2.5 MB/s for 512 KB random writes uniformly across the device; and
3. The device has to have at least 64mb of free space.

For Vista Tweaks look here : http://www.tweakvista.com/
You can use the TweakVista Utility too.

What graphics card/ on board graphics do you have ?

After you plug in your flash drive, the auto play dialog box should open, and then you have to click "Speed up my System", and then you can configure it.
