Not Possible. cause the Page file is always used to keep some part loaded programs in the Page file. So you have to restart to clear/re-allocate the page file.

Also what is the advantage setting "clear page file" at shutdown ? Shut down time increases/ so does startup time.

When u shut down it will clear/flush the pagefile......this increases the shutdown time but makes the start-up realatively fast....coz @startup u have a fresh file..........,,,,,,,,,,,,all these things don't make much difference in xp but they do in vista

No, it doesn't. I have tried it. And there was no decrease in time taken for startup. Also there is nothing like a fresh page file created, so "fresh" files will be present. Whenever Windows boots, it starts each program (in so called "fresh way") and spme parts of it are loaded in the page file/virtual memory. Deleting the page file only helps when the page file has got defragmented.

Sure with u r 2GB ram it dosen't but with my 512MB it surely does........

I didn't mean a ''fresh'' pagefile....but just a clear one!

Well.......the shut down time surely increases......So do u say that if the keep the option disabled, when I boot, I will have a pagefile with no data in it?

aare .. yes. Cause in pagefile Prefetch data is NOT kept. Only some parts of the running program are kept. And every time you start in Windows, as the programs are loaded into memory, they are done in page file also.
