Unhappy DRM encrypted video file

yesterday i bought a DVD containing Exam MCQ review lectures.I found that the DVD contained many *.EXE files.Once i opened it it asked for a password which is sent to me after i sms them the serial no. on DVD and the machine ID.
The problem is that i can play each video only 2times.If i watch half of the video and switch it off to view it later then it becomes counted as 1view.So i have only one more view left. But its really impossible to finish the entire DVD at one go!!
Since i have purchased and owned the DVD i think its my right to use it as many times as i want for later review.
So i planned to screen capture it but once the video starts playing the screencap software automatically closes.Think its enable with antiscreen capture technology!!

But Since i have spent around Rs.10,000 to purchase the DVD's i feel cheated! So can anyone please help me out to overcome this..Anyway to back up the video.

How is the video encrypted in a exe file??Will i be able to decompile and extract the video???If so plz help me out..

Re: DRM encrypted video file

Weird, but I'm actually in need of a special coded product to remove DRM protection from some of my videos. But I'm not sure about the EXE files that have video files in it. Weird.
You can probably download Universal Extractor and try extracting the exe files and see what output files you get.

Re: DRM encrypted video file

Very interesting! What is the size of these exe files? Is it possible for you to upload one so that I can have a look at it.

I see windows media player is playing the file. Can you find out from where it's playing the video? e.g. the Temp folder. If it's difficult use a tool like Filemon to monitor file system activities and find out the path of the video the media player exe is reading.

Re: DRM encrypted video file

It is not playing from any temp..Bcas the whole DVD is more than 3GB..So the video lies in the DVD itself which after getting decrypted, plays in WMP.It is supposedly a DRM protected content with anti-screen capture.

tried universal extractor but couldn't extract. It says Microsoft Visual C++ overlay..

I donno how they compiled the video into an .exe file..Anyways u can see the .exe extension and the file size in the attached pic. Here is the link to the uploaded file.

If the protection is in the exe I can crack it in no time. But can't download the file now. I'll try downloading it tomorrow, if possible upload it to Rapidshare for the time being.
