Windows Xp Not starting

Today afternoon I left my PC switched on by locking the screen. When I returned I found that My PC was hanged. I tried to shutdown it but I failed. Even by pressing ctrl+alt+del several times. So I pressed the reset button.
After rebooting I found that My Xp was not starting.....
After the windows logo only a mouse pointer appears on the screen with a black background. I cant start my Xp from safe mode also.....

Please help me.... I have my lifetime works saved in this pc please help me to start this xp

Re: Windows Xp Not starting

Have to tried to log using Last known good configuration.
If it doesnot work, try to login with Safe mode on Command prompt and give the line command CHKDSK C:\ (C:\ is the drive where you have your windows directory & System files)

So you are able to start sometimes, good....
Try to check if the cooler fan over the processor is working.
Also if you are able to login to the system, Do a disk defragment.

The point is that after having this kind of problem I took backup of my works and repartition my HDD and Install Xp again but till having this problem I checked the cooler fan and other stuffs. Those are totally ok. I checked CPU temperature also with speedfan. It is around 46-50 Degree.
My Computer configuration is:
Processor: Intel Pentium IV 2.4 GHz
M/B: Mercury 845GLMP
RAM: Zion 1GB, DDR1 333MHz
HDD: Segate Baracuda 80GB
PSU: 400 Watt iBall
With D-Link Wirelass G Lan Card

Guys please tell me that what is the problem? is it sw related problem or a hardware related problem.....

Re: Windows Xp Not starting

Since you've the problem even after a reinstall, this must be hardware related. Open your CPU case and clean it a bit. MAke sure all the cables are connected firmly. Check the RAM sticks. Once done, start the PC and see if the problem persists.

Re: Windows Xp Not starting

hmm, wierd problem. do you have any USB device (USB mouse, keyboard, cam...etc) attached to your system. If so, try to re-boot after removing every USB device.

Lets try this....
