Red face Adobe Creative Suite Web Standard v4

Hi all

I am new to this site and am looking for some help. I work in a school setting and I need to learn how to create msi's and mst's. I use wise package studio. I am working with the Adobe Creative Suite v4 web standard application. I tried to follow the steps that some one entered on appdeploy however I am missing the files install.xml and remove.xml I am to have these files after I run the setup.exe record=1

Can anyone out there help me?

Cool.. I work in packaging using Wise. Glad to meet another packager.

See this link for some details:

Adobe CS4 Deployment (Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Standard) | PackageDeploy.com

It's my own blog.

Re: Adobe Creative Suite Web Standard v4

Wow somone that I can turn to for help! This is all new to me Wise Package thanks for replying. Here is my problem though

Now browse to the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers and copy the files Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Standard.install.xml and Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Standard.remove.xml. Paste these files in the Adobe CS4 folder in the network where the setup.exe is located. You may rename the files to some thing like install.xml and uninstall.xml.

These files are not there, even though I go through the steps as directed????

Any thoughts?

Well, you might try enabling the view hidden & protected OS files options.

Re: Adobe Creative Suite Web Standard v4

Thanks Strider

I did unhide the files and folders however this did not help. The files are not there see below. This is what is there.

3 folders
74391d4c0f181c4de6461d86
SharedSupport
uninstall

I log file
Adobe Creative Suite 4 Web Standard 4.0 10-20-2009.log.gz

Inside the folders there is no Adobe Creative Suite 4.install.xml or remove.xml

any other ideas?

Strider
I did a search on the test system, the only place I see deployment.xml and uninstall.xml is C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder CS4\PCI\AMEImporters
I tried a search for install.xml and remove.xml and the files are not there.

Re: Adobe Creative Suite Web Standard v4

The proper switch is
Code:
--record=1
not record=1. Is this what you used?

Re: Adobe Creative Suite Web Standard v4

Yes I used the record=1
I did not use the -- in front of record
I will try this again, thanks
is there any way that I can see a progress bar so I know it is installing?

Also, what does the log file say? You can unzip it with winzip or winrar or probably whatever archiving software you might have.

It doesn't install with this switch. It just tells you that it saved the files.

As far as when you install it with the --mode=silent switch, no, there is no way. I know, it's frustrating and takes a long time. I wish there was something equivalent to the /qb switch for msi installers.
