word (2003) document not displayed / no cursor / printing possible

Hi

Have hit a snag with Word 2003 Pro Ed (OS XP). Documents open but are not displayed. No cursor is visible. Documents print as normal.

Same prob in Outlook where I use Word as teh text editor.

Have tried Word repair function but install has to be interrupted since PC cannot locate file(s) (WV561405.CAB) although this file is on the installation CD.

Would really appreciate input / solution as am working towards a tight project deadline.
