Microsoft Outlook 2007 - No New email popup or sound for Hotmail Account
Being that there was no Tech Support Archives for Microsoft Outlook in this forum, I figure I would post this here.
I have set a "sound" notification and a pop-up to alert me when I receive new email. I get neither. Is it because I'm using a web-based email (Hotmail through the MS Outlook Connector)? |

Re: Microsoft Outlook 2007 - No New email popup or sound
I never had a problem with the notifications. Are you setting it up correct?
Here is a guide: Turn Desktop Alerts on or off in Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 And this must be your problem: Quote:

Re: Microsoft Outlook 2007 - No New email popup or sound
Strider,
Thank you for the link. I did set up the notifications properly. I created a rule like you said and now I'm waiting to get an email or an RSS Feed to see if it worked. I'll keep you posted. |

Re: Microsoft Outlook 2007 - No New email popup or sound
I did get a sound alert and a desktop pop-up for new RSS Feeds but still nothing for email. I created a rule to have a sound alert and a desktop pop-up when email arrives through my Hotmail account, but it's not working.

Re: Microsoft Outlook 2007 - No New email popup or sound
I have a Hotmail folder in Outlook. It was created there when I used the MS Office Outlook connector. Are you saying I should create another folder and then create a rule to have email moved from that folder to the new one? Once in the new folder, create the rule again?

Re: Microsoft Outlook 2007 - No New email popup or sound
Thanks for your help Strider. The only way I could get my alerts to work was if I set my Hotmail account as the default. I didn't want to do that because it makes everything in the Hotmail account the default (meaning the Contacts and Calendar as well). I don't know if that will ***** up anything when I sync my Windows Mobile phone with Outlook. If I could just make the Hotmail account's inbox the default and not have to make everything the default, then I would be happy, but I couldn't create a rule to do that. I think I'm just going to keep it the way I have it. The alerts are no longer a big deal for me. Thanks again.

Re: Microsoft Outlook 2007 - No New email popup or sound
Honestly I've never setup webmail accounts in Outlook. But if there is a working rule there to move the Hotmail emails to a folder, you should be able to setup a notification in that rule itself.
But since this a Plugin, not a standard account. I can't find any detailed documentation for this. |
