Cannot remove Conduit search engine and toolbar!

I seem to have installed conduit search engine and toolbar on one of my laptop unknowingly. Tried to remove it or delete it but its not getting deleted. All my search end up using the conduit search engine.

How do I stop it and set Google as my default search engine?

Re: Cannot remove Conduit search engine and toolbar!

To uninstall Conduit Search program from your computer, click the Start button, then select Control Panel, and click on Uninstall a program.
If you are a Windows 8 user, you can right-click on a bottom left hot corner (formerly known as the Start button) and select Control panel from there, then select Uninstall a program.

If the above control panel method doesn't work then try this one out,

If you are using firefox browser, then go to the menu and select the Add Ons option. Then click on Extensions tab. There you would see the toolbar listed,Click in it and remove it and restart. It would be gone.

BTW let me mention that none of the above thing works. I was able to disable the toolbar but then the search page keeps on coming up whenever I try to search. I set the default search as Google but then the conduit thing overrides that too.

Re: Cannot remove Conduit search engine and toolbar!

It seems to be some sort of virus to me. Its very risky leaving it there and there itself as it may phish out some important data from out internet transactions.

If not the last option would be to format the PC.

It becomes very tough time when we go for the format. Install the favorite programs again, drivers. Consumes 3-4 hours of the day.

Re: Cannot remove Conduit search engine and toolbar!

Uninstall it using add/remove programs. Then, depending on the browser you're using, remove the add-on. They're pretty annoying...I got a similar one these days, delta search, and I had to do a bit more to get rid of it.

Re: Cannot remove Conduit search engine and toolbar!

Be very careful when searching online for solutions. Some sites recommend programs like Hitman Pro for cleaning adware. Whatever you do, don't install this program, as it can damage your OS. Do a research before installing programs like these.

Re: Cannot remove Conduit search engine and toolbar!

@Gooseman it does not get uninstalled using the add or remove program. The search itself sets itself as default over riding the specified search.

Guys to let you'll know I just formatted my PC and did a fresh OS install. Got rid of the issue but I think we should continue this discussion and find some better solution for it.
