Question Shanghai Second Dynasty on Windows Vista Problems PLUS Right Click Lag

I finally had to bring myself to a troubleshooting forum for some ideas and advice on a particularly unusual set of issues!

I'm trying to help my Dad with his favorite computer game called Shanghai Second Dynasty; a game he's played for several years now. It's been running normal up until a month ago.

The problem is VERY strange to say the least.

Whenever he tries to double click on the shortcut to the game and the CD attempts to read the game on the disc, Windows Media Player pops up and tries to rip "The Celtic Book of Days" by David Arkenstone.

Apparently, it's been able to successfully rip; as the music is now in the media library. So now that the music is fully ripped, the CD gets ejected back out.

So basically I ran a full system virus scan with Avast (it found one threat and apparently took care of it), and then I did a CCleaner, and a Spybot Search and Destroy run.

I uninstalled the game, reinstalled the game, to which it began to function like normal again. My Dad was able to play it earlier in the day with no problems, but when he played it later, the CD yet again started up it's antics. He can still play the game now though, it's just that he has to click out of Windows Media Player and he leaves the CD ejected.

He seems to be okay with that, but I'm rather annoyed at the situation. It's just really weird! Has anyone had this problem or something that resembles it?

The other thing that may or may not be related to this issue, is that I am also experiencing "right click lag". It happens anywhere, desktop or folder, and I attempted to review the registration files; but so far with no luck.

Okay, that's about all. Thanks for reading and I look forward to the possibility of this puzzle being solvable.
