Search openSUSE software
I have made a search for the openSUSE software for version 10.3. OK, so
there is no automated installation as with other search engines, but still it works for me. If you so desire, please rip it and put it on mozdev as your own. So what do you do: Download http://houghi.org/Fun/openSUSE103.xml ~.mozilla/firefox/<smoething>.default/searchplugins/ where <smoething> is something you should figure out yourself. Next restart firefox. You can edit the place where it is. If you want to searh for an other version, edit openSUSE103.xml by changing baseproject=openSUSE%3A10.3 You can also delete &baseproject=openSUSE%3A10.3 so it will search for all versions. Yeah, probably it is included in the standard installation. I recall there was some Novell stuff as well. That is gone now as well with me. Can anybody verify if the search is there? If not, I will open a bug report to add it in future releases. houghi -- The whole principle [of censorship] is wrong. There is no such thing by default in firefox, only search engines for novell cool solutions and documentation. -- Chris Maaskant |

I however want a search in Firefox, so that I can searcg the software website directly. houghi -- But I will accept the rules that you feel necessary to your freedom. That way if I find anything, I can either copy and paste it here, or if I want to install it, click on it and install it. If I so desire, I could download the files first as well. So to me there is no advantage of using smart instead of YaST/Firefox. houghi -- Always listen to experts. They'll tell you what can't be done, and why. I have no idea, as I do not know it well enough. webpin used to be 'just' a webimplementation of "pin". Apparently they have moved on. However I want to use it to point people towards software and for that I rather use the official site to show that openSUSE does a lot of work as well. Advertisement, brand awareness, whatever you like to call it. It might confuse new people if they have to visist 27 different sites, while almost all of the information is available in one place If you WERE talking about the file over the webpin site, the advantage of using the file is that you can use it directly from your browser. If you like that and still want to use the search in Firefox, just do a search and look how the result looks. e.g. you will see http://benjiweber.co.uk:8080/webpin/...earchTerm=slrn Now you open openSUSE103.xml and look for the old search item and replace that. Also change other things as well. Next look for a 16x16 icon to replace it and paste that URL in here; http://software.hixie.ch/utilities/cgi/data/data and paste that into the file. Webpin also searches all known repositories for the given opensuse distro. I did a search for mplayer on both: Webpin - http://benjiweber.co.uk:8080/webpin/...chTerm=mplayer Opensuse - http://software.opensuse.org/search?...10.3&q=mplayer -- Chris Maaskant |
