Cool ASUS Unveils Eee PC 901 and Eee Box B202

ASUS unveiled the Eee PC 801 netbook and the Eee Box B202 nettop today in Taiwan, at Computex expo.

The Eee PC 901 builds upon the recently introduced Eee PC 900 with a completely redesigned exterior. Also new to the Eee PC 901 are a 1.6GHz Atom processor, standard Bluetooth and optional WiMAX (which will be introduced at a later date). Other specifications -- including the 20GB/Linux, 12GB/Windows XP storage configurations and port selection -- remain identical to the previous Eee PC 900.

ASUS says that the switch from the 900MHz Celeron-M to the 1.6GHz Atom will boost battery life to around four to six hours.

According to Engadget, ASUS is expected to make price cuts to the Eee PC 701 and Eee PC 900 product lines to make room for the Eee PC 901 and better compete with new entries like MSI's Wind.

In other Eee PC news, specifications for the 2.2-pound Eee Box B202 have been revealed to the public. The Eee Box will come pre-loaded with either Windows XP Home or Linux like its Eee PC brethren. A 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor handles processing duties while a 945GSE handles chipset duties.

The Eee Box comes reasonably equipped with two USB 2.0 ports, GbE, 802.11n, 3-in-media reader, and a DVI port. Those looking for an optical drive might be disappointed -- you'll have to use one of the USB 2.0 ports to hook up an external DVD burner.

ASUS Eee Box B202

When the Eee Box B202 launches in the U.S. this July, it will be priced at $269 (Linux, 1GB, 80GB HDD), $299 (Linux, 2GB, 160GB), and $299 (Windows XP Home, 1GB, 80GB) respectively.
