Ipad 2 Rumor

iPad 2 Rumor: Cameras, Better Screen, Sleeker Form Factor

Apple's iPad may gain some significant upgrades early next year, including dual cameras, a better screen, and sleeker form factors, according to a new report from ABC News.

Sources suggest that component suppliers are revving for a new round of production in the first quarter, though the verdict is still split as to whether it's a ramp-up for a new iPad or simply a new round of production for the original model. Considering the iPad was announced in January 2009 and launched in April, however, an update would fall in line with the company's practice of updating products at least once per year.

there are plenty of possible goodies, ABC said. One source claimed that the tablet will gain both front- and rear-facing cameras. Module makers Genius Electronic Optical Co Ltd and Largan Precision Co Ltd are apparently launching supply deals with Apple, though plenty of ambiguity remains.

Another source suggested that the revamped model will also be slimmer, lighter, and boast even higher resolution display, a la the iPhone's retina display.

Fake Amazon Receipts

Fake Amazon Receipt Generator Targets Online Merchants

Tech Junkeez Latest Tech News

There's a new online swindle afoot this holiday season, but it's not after consumer pocketbooks. Rather, it targets a very specific group: Businesses that sell their wares on Amazon.com. The would-be grift is a bit of software that generates authentic-looking Amazon receipts -- for orders that were never placed -- in hopes of acquiring fraudulent refunds.

Christopher Boyd, senior threat researcher at GFI Software, which recently uncovered the social engineering device, wrote in the company's blog: "It's a pretty good facsimile of a genuine Amazon receipt." He compared a fake receipt with a real one from his own Amazon account and found them "identical." He noted that the deceitful receipt gets the seemingly little details right, such as the "Total Before Tax" and "Sales Tax" line items, increasing the appearance of authenticity.

Though vigilant merchants do not have too much to be concerned about -- it's not that difficult, after all, to determine whether or not an order was ever placed -- the receipt generator does put at risk smaller sellers that do sizeable volume but don't have strong return policies or automated processes to prevent fraud.

"Most sophisticated merchants would have caught this pretty easily," said Scot Wingo, CEO of ChannelAdvisor, a software firm that helps retailers sell online. "This kind of fraud can be caught with just a process in place."

Re: Latest Tech News

If you're gonna make a news thread, you have to find a way to REVERSE this so the latest news is on top and the oldest pushed back.

Actually, it is a setting in your User Control Panel. You could set it up to show the newest first. It's in the Edit Options.

Re: Latest tech news 13/12/2010

Not necessarily. If you have it set to have the newest post on top, then essentially your post will become the newest, and therefore on top.
