What is "mcods.exe" ?

I'm trying to find out what this process is that is running on my computer. In the task manager under processes it is listed as "mcods.exe". Can anyone help answer what it is and is it necessary?
Thanks

It belongs to McAfee VirusScan. Do you have any McAfee products installed in your computer? Also does this exe cause any problems?

Also check the location. mcods.exe should be running from c:\program files\McAfee\VIRUSSCAN folder or inside the Virusscan folder where McAfee is installed. If you see it running from some other location, it might be a malware.
