If you want a very good software to remove i would suggest 2.
1. Adobe Premier (a very big and professional software)
2. Mainactor (a small and simple software)

While you open a Avi file in these software, i will be loaded in different tracks. that is found in the timeline for editing.
You can try this.......
Let me know if you have some other problem
I have downloaded the Adobe Premier Software v 2.0

Probably in the next 2 days u will hear me call shenanigans on either you, Albin or you, St-Rider

You need to have Adobe Premier (Software for video editing).
When you open the Avi file in Adobe Premier it will open in seperate track.
ie) Audio in seperate track, Video in seperate track and Subtitle in seperate track.
Now you can delete that track and render that Avi file again.
This could solve your problem.
Dude I have no idea how that software works....

I am killing myself in trying to make out anything...

Man soo many things ; it's sooo damn confusing....

Please a tutorial any1 ???

Re: Remove Subtitles from an *.avi video

hi, I said permier is a very big software that only proffesional use that, no problem, i think i can help u little. You need to have the following windows opened.
1. Project window (for importing the files eg. avi file )
2. timeline windows (for editing these file, u can seperate audio and video here.
3. monitor window (for viewing the output ie. vedio after editing)
after u fininsh editing u have to render the timeline again.
This is the basic thing to edit a video in premier. If u still need more help. u can use the help in premier.

If u still find it very difficult Try the other software mainactor. Its small and easy.

Regards
Albin

Ok dude I'm uploading a pic of the software as and when I'm working on it....

1 is ur Project window : 2 is ur Timeline window and the ?? is the program window I think....

Where is the "Remove subtitles" (and hence put me outta my misery) option ???

Dude u need to tell me what to do NOT what is there.... I can see all the stuff but I need to know what menus etc or if it's not as simple as rubbing the lamp and making the genie appear, then tell me what normal steps are taken....

And dude now that I have downloaded this software please do not hurt me by saying that I can use another simpler software.... It's like "oh u can run 1000 mtrs everyday and become fit, or u can run on a treadmill inside ur home"....

That is very frustrating....

Details in the explanation please !!!

Cheers !!

Re: Remove Subtitles from an *.avi video

fine, the first " ? " at the left is monitor(Orginal) and the second " ? " at the right is the Monitor(Output).
1. First Import the Avi file in the project window and from there drag it to the time line. After dragging it, you can see the audio track and video track seperately. ie) Video 1, Video2, Video3 and Audio1 ....
2. Generally in Video2 or video3 tracks will have the subtitle. just click on it and delete.
3. After deleting Export the file to required format like .avi / . mpeg .....
Note:- Generally if u click all the tracks gets selected, to avoid it use rightclick and select the particular track.

Re: Remove Subtitles from an *.avi video

Just like Adobe Premier MainActor was a commercial software. Also it's no longer maintained by the developers.

If you want to remove the subtitles try AVIMux GUI.

As previously stated, if it has been encoded into the file, you cannot remove it in order to see behind it. It has become part of the movie.
