Computer processing slowed dramatically
I have an AMD computer (see below) and it ran great til about a month ago. It started to process slower. I looked for malware, virus and all other things a
newbie could think of. I have formatted the machine 3 times thinking that would do it. Nothing! This last time I left everything off of the machine other than Firefox and Adobe Photoshop. What I am seeing now is that it processing the picture information at about the same speed as a pre-1995 machine. It grinds the stuff out slowly. I talked to a repair guy and he said it could be hard drive, motherboard or memory. My question is there a way to determine which process is corrupt and do a DIY fix? If I can furnish any other info please indicate how to do it. Any help more than welcome. Re: Computer processing slowed dramatically
what is the PR rating of your processor ? AMD 2000+ or which AMD processor ?
The speed of your processor is 1155MHz, do you use AMD X2 or single core ? Make sure you have turned off Asus Q-Fan and all such automatic cooling features. Generally in summer, if temps rise, some mobos, automatically lower processor core clock speed. Your speed 1155MHz seems too slow, comparing with mordern clock speeds.

Re: Computer processing slowed dramatically
Sorry I did not reply sooner. I would imagine it is single core and I know nothing about clock speed or computers for that matter. My new post shows what happens in the Event viewer if that is of any help.
Ignorance is not bliss and I do not have the years to invest learning computers, or, probably the intellect. Ed |
