Re: Is there any software for that

You can compress the movies, if possible using VirtualDUB and bring it down to 700MB and burn on a CD.

You can burn using Nero or any freeware cd buring product available.

Re: How to burn greater than 700MB on a CD.

You can try Overburning which will allow burn a few MBs above the 700 MB limit.

In Nero enabling short lead-out support will get you an extra 12 -15 MB.

Preferences -> Expert Options ->Enable "short lead-out" (works only in Disk At Once mode).

This will let you burn another 12-15 MB into a regular 700MB CD-R/RW. Note that you must use Disk-at-once mode only. That means no multi-session.

Quote:
Overburning is writing beyond the official capacity of a CD-R(W).
This is possible by using the leadout to store (audio) data.
The leadout is used to indicate the end of the disc and contains nothing but zero’s.
According to the redbook standard (the standard at which all CD’s are based on) the leadout must be 90 seconds.
Usually you can even write beyond these 90 seconds but then the data may be unreliable.

But it is always recommended not to try this. The best alternative is buying 'High Capacity' 800MB CD-r or compile a DVD with a 5/6 movies. I'm using the DVD option.

Re: How to burn greater than 700MB on a CD.

Overburning as much as I tried, was never able to get more than 4MB and screws up the entire disk if using multisession with Overburning.

Re: How to burn greater than 700MB on a CD.

i hope that the movie file would be compressed automatically when it is written in the CD using VCD option. That video file will be converted to DAT format.
Generally AVI format occupies more space than others. But when it is burnt in VCD option then it will be compressed to DAT format.

Regards
Albin

That's not quite accurate. AVI is a container commonly used in the new low bitate MPEG4 codecs like DivX, XVID etc. The file size will be different based on the codec used to encode the video and/or audio.

Refer these pages:

http://guru.multimedia.cx/the-avi-co...r-file-format/

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compari...tainer_formats

In my experience Matroska (.mkv) is the best container.
