Re: dvd is not booting............
Are you sure the DVD is bootable ? make sure in BIOS Boot Priority options, CD/DVD drive is selected before Hard disk.
Also you can install Vista from within XP if both Vista and XP you are trying to install are either 32bit or 64bit.

Re: dvd is not booting............
Sometimes the "Press any key to boot from the CD" message doesn't come up for me... When you try to boot from the CD, does it take any longer to boot than without the CD in the drive?

Re: dvd is not booting............
Disable booting from all other devices except DVD ROM. Also if you have more than one rom's make sure the one you have inserted the DVD has higher priority.
Do you have any other bootable CD/DVD's ? Can you check whether your system is booting from it ? |

Re: dvd is not booting............
Solution: Your Vista dvd is a burnt version and the boot image wasn't copied when you burnt the os, as the boot image is part of the copyright protection on the original and doesn't copy onto a secondary non-original. Like when you burn an original game, and then install it using the burnt version it will ask for the disk, and the disk is in the drive but it still asks for it. This is because the copyright protection is removed. Which you gives you those "Please insert disc into drive". Same concept as your problem now! Just use vlite and redo the burning without slipstreaming anything. google vlite download and go to its homepage and follow instructions!
Hope this explained to you a solution! =]

Re: dvd is not booting............
You cannot copy boot image as such. With ISOBuster you can extract the boot image from the original bootable CD/DVD, and then use it while creating a bootable CD/DVD in Nero where it asks for a bootable image.
However easiest way for you is as said earlier, copy paste all files inside a folder, then use vLite and make a iso image which is bootable or you can directly burn from vLite also. |
