Re: Fault Bucket error

I haven't done that. What's the easiest way to do that? I've only had the 1 bsod since I changed hdd's. Nothing since the other day & this was the 1st one since before I changed my graphics card. I"ll have to do a registry search. Hopefully, this fault bucket error can be resolved.

Re: Fault Bucket error

You have changed your graphics card also ? Last time I upgraded my graphics card, I was also facing random BSOD's, after a clean install, everything is now stable.

Did you follow the standard procedure for upgrading graphics cards ?

1. Uninstall old drivers from Device Manager.
2. Reboot in safe mode, run driver sweeper, clean out remaining driver entries.
3. Turn off computer and change cards.
3. Boot in normal mode and install new drivers.

Re: Fault Bucket error

when I changed my graphics card, I had done all of that. I actually formatted my pc & reinstalled everything. The image that I used to restore my pc after I changed my hdd, when it died, was the image from that format. The fault bucket error with windows explorer is my only main problem right now. The bsod, I do believe, was just a 1 time system crash. I may have had way too much going at one time & something gave up.

Re: Fault Bucket error

Then you need to manually find the cause of the error :

Run Process Monitor, and set a filter for explorer.exe, and let it log events, just as explorer.exe crashes, note down the entries logged in process monitor.

Re: Fault Bucket error

It happened again, must have been overnight. I closed a folder with avi files in it & when I turned the monitor on in the morning, explorer had crashed with a fault bucket error. I'm now thinking it's o.s. and something with xvid. I use xvid to recompress avi files, when I make my own. I will try the process monitor to confirm my suspicions.

Re: Fault Bucket error

I'm wondering if it's a codec issue. I'm using divx 7 and whatever version of xvid that's in the klite codec pack I use. I was thinking & it didn't crash or fault bucket error with divx 6.5 or whatever the version I was using. I'll try to uninstall codec pack, including divx7 & reinstall but only use divx what's in codec pack. Will get back with results later on.

Re: Fault Bucket error

yes, if it happens only when you are viewing xvid/avi files then it might be something related to codecs. You have already install DivX, then uncheck divX codecs while installing k-Lite codec pack.

Re: Fault Bucket error

I removed all codecs & reinstalled them again. Hopefully, this time the problem is solved. Maybe, it is a conflict problem. Will keep you informed of if this gets solved.

Re: Fault Bucket error

Well, it did it again. Data execution prevention, followed by explorer crashing & the fault bucket error. This time, I was in a folder that didn't have any avi files in it. It's a folder where I download files to. This is so annoying. Here's the latest event log. It may not help much, but the fault bucket error number is now different from the 1st time.

Re: Fault Bucket error

Yes, the bucket number will be different. First you need to uninstall all codecs installed by any application and use for a few days and see if it crashes. Then install codecs one by one (or you can install K-Lite codec pack, but no other codec packs) and see if it crashes again.

or you can temporarily disable DEP and see if you still receive crashe.
