Re: Fault Bucket error

I'm really considering a format now. I"m thinking that this error was hidden somewhere in my image, which was my old hdd before it crashed. I redid codec packs, again. Only time will tell if it's going to happen again. If explorer crashes again in a folder where there's no avi files, a format will be happening very shortly. Most likely, within the next few days.

Re: Fault Bucket error

This is odd. I just formatted my pc & I got just about everything installed. I installed the version of nero 7 that I"ve been using & it caused windows explorer to crash. No fault bucket error, just a data execution prevention then the crash. Why would that happen?

Re: Fault Bucket error

Nero 7 has that issue. Rename the file C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter\NeVideo.ax to NeVideo.ax.bak, also rename NeVideoHD.ax to NeVideoHD.bak (in the same folder). It will break Nero Showtime but the DEP error should be fixed.

Re: Fault Bucket error

Thanks. Will give that a try. I haven't had an explorer crash with a fault bucket since before I formatted. Explorer crashed with nero, but nothing else since. I'm thinking that the image that I used, after my main hdd crashed, had some residual left on it from the failing hdd. That's what was creating all of the explorer crashes with fault bucket errors. I'll keep you posted to see if there are any more such errors. I'll have to give it several days to find out.

Re: Fault Bucket error

I had my 1st fault bucket error since I formatted. This time, there were no folders open that had any avi files in them. I was using dvdfab & was finished. I closed it & that's when it happened. I'm starting to think that this happens when high memory useage programs don't return the memory properly once they're done.

Re: Fault Bucket error

The FaultBucket error generally happens with other errors or any type of crashes when Windows send error report to Microsoft. Since you see it in the Event log check for any other errors that accompany it, like in previous cases explorer.exe was the actual program that crashed.

Since it crashed with dvdfab this time, it still crashed when a program was using some codecs.

Re: Fault Bucket error

I installed the latest version of xvid codec. Maybe the older version was what was causing the problem. Will keep you posted.

Re: Fault Bucket error

Did you ever figure this out?...

I recently has this issue happen to an end user. Appears that it kept happening when they connected their i-Phone. Could be some Apple software causing the issue.

Re: Fault Bucket error

I don't get the fault bucket error if I don't send in the error report. Weird, I think. explorer still crashes, but now I just ignore it.
