Laptop question ?

I have a dell studio labtop and it was shutting down it was doing updates then i accidently turn it off while it was in the process. Now my labtop wont turn back on. Ive tried a copule differnt things all it does is it turns on but the screen is black. I was wondering if anybody knows something else i could try?

Try starting in to the Last Known Good Configuration as per the instructions here:

I think your display has gone. But how it could be! It was new, right? I mean the laptop? Can you hear a beep sound usually occurs while opening a laptop machine?
