Software Download Issue

I have a HP 530 Laptop running Windows Vista Basic. I have McAfee Internet Security running on it. At some point (I suppose during a cleanup session to remove what I thought was un-needed programs) I lost my Adobe Reader (10.1.4).

When I try to download Adobe Reader from the internet I get a popup band across the bottom that says, "Setup.exe couldn't be downloaded.

I tried turning off McAfee / Firewall and going to internet explorer and changing security levels and I still can't download Adobe Reader (I haven't tried to download any other software).

Could any of you help please?

Thanks,
topknot1
