Sky broadband / calls
Hi all,
I have been hemeraging cash long enough with separate broadband and calls accounts. I pay Virgin.net £24.99 p/m and lord knows why....but I'm paying £62 p/m on a BT phone bill. The long and short of it is I have identified that Sky ( via Easynet ) have got LLU equip't installed at my exhange so I can can go for and adslmax package which is £10 for unlimted BB & £5 for unlimted UK landline calls. The total should be £15 min Sky viewing package , plus £10 broadband , plus £15 calls , plus £10.99 still to BT for line rental.= £40.99 1. I know its easy to cancel Virgin and get a mac address, but is this address valid for an LLU supplier? 2. Does Sky have call ID feature? can't say I've noticed but can't see the woods for the trees. 3. How the hell do I get out of my normal BT phone billing contract ? Would Sky handle this or have I got to make sure I don't get billed of both parties ? 4. Any common known pitfalls with Sky for phones / broadband ? |

(same total, though.) > 1. I know its easy to cancel Virgin and get a mac address, but is this > address valid for an LLU supplier? AFAIK, yes > 2. Does Sky have call ID feature? can't say I've noticed but can't see the > woods for the trees. You wouldn't be getting this service from Sky - your line will still be provided by BT, so yes, it will still work. If you currently have it free, you will need to remember to make at least 4 calls a month through BT (Prefix a few calls with 1280 to achieve this) > 3. How the hell do I get out of my normal BT phone billing contract ? Would > Sky handle this or have I got to make sure I don't get billed of both parties > ? You wouldn't need to. Sky simply CPS your calls, therefore, your BT bill will just drop to services charges only (virtually), unless you're on a fixed monthly payment plan. If you are on MPP, just ring BT up and ask them to put you on regular monthly (variable) or quarterly (variable) billing. > 4. Any common known pitfalls with Sky for phones / broadband ? Not found one......customer services(?) |

I take it you're being facetious..? > Does having Sky phones mean that every number I phone have to put some > lengthy number before I dail the actual number? No. the act of applying Carrier Pre-Select means that the "Carrier", in this case, Sky, is pre-selected before you pick up the phone. It it only to bypass CPS that you need to enter codes of varying length before you dial. |

Any call except for a few specials automaticaly goes via Sky. > > > >Does having Sky phones mean that every number I phone have to put some >lengthy number before I dail the actual number? Nope - it is done in the exchange, so is automatic.
