Any idea what BT charges to install a NTE5a?

We've recently moved into a new house and the 'master socket'
is a Block Terminal, model 52A according to
http://www.britishtelephones.com/bterm.htm.

I'd like to get it replaced with a modern NTE5A and ADSL face plate
so I don't have to have ASDL filters all over the house.

TIA!

The BT call out fee is around £50 plus a charge for the time. Give them a
call. They may change it for free if you are lucky.

If you induce a fault on it (perhaps by gripping one of the wires inside the
block terminal and waggling back and forth until it breaks) the engineer
should replace it with an NTE5. Give him a brew and some choccie biccies and
you may also get the ADSL faceplate )

There appears to be a standard charge for this - see last item in

Many thanks. I like the description:

Conversion of hard-wired master socket to Linebox and Regularisation of illicit master socket

Regularisation indeed!
