Damage to the network can be reported via the Openreach website -

Select the last option from the drop down box and you can report the
damage without having to phone anyone

Only problem with letters is that unless you pay extra for proof of
delivery (and even that isn't foolproof) it's all too easy for the
recipient to deny all knowledge of receipt.

It's (usually, anyway) possible to determine if an email gets there and
you know when you've got through on hthe phone..

Never had any problems with the likes of BT, there still seems to be a
structure behind the facade that views letters as parcels from God which
have to be treated with special notice. I have had letters ignored but
reasonable wording with steep and targeted escalation seems to do the
job.

IMHO email is way too easy to plonk and 5mins typing beats any time in a
queuing system waiting for an anonymous and frequently unaccountable
drone . . . . 1. I'll do that straight away, you will receive your a) refund b)
compensation c) withdrawal of debt collection notice without delay 2. (2
weeks later) We have no record of your call a) please repeat the details of
your problem b) repeat why you think you are due compensation c) you
have been referred to a debt collection agency . . .

I have now had this from Openreach

-------------------------

Thank you for your e-mail.

At Openreach, our Customers are the Communications Providers and we do
not deal directly with their customers. May I suggest that you contact
your current Communications Provider and advise them of the situation.
They will be able to register the fault on your behalf.

Regards,

So I'm no further forward ;-(

As already posted ring 151 & wait for the damaged BT plant option,
emails & letters won't get you anywhere...

Last time I looked in The Phone Book there was a section near the front
with Customer Services Manager contact details, including a fax number
so one has knowledge that the message went through OK, and can follow
up later using (unless the number used is a non-geographic,
though from memory, the fax number I saw was geographic).

golly gosh - that takes me back (ZIMACS v2 was last contact, from memory)
I wonder if Paul Martin is still at their NOC in Manchester... Hope your
line box gets sorted soon, now someone has found a suitable web-based way
to assist in reporting... Good luck, take care.

Paul Martin is very much still there. (Tim Cole died nearly four years
ago, sadly.) I started with ZIMAC v1.20, run v2.23 and have not yet
tried v3...

No definitive reply to my damage report yet. Had an auto-response. Could
not get web form to accept the format of my BT Account Number as valid,
so omitted it.
