+ sign in a phone number
Hi all,
I have a mobile phone number for Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. And on for the Philippines they both start with + The Dubai one is: +971502590*** The Philippines one is: +639197233*** I want to use the "Tele Discount" service to have cheaper calls routed through them from my BT landline to the mobiles How do I convert the + bit of the number to one I can dial from by landline phone? I will be very grateful for any help, Mick. |

All the + sign means is that it should be replaced by the international access code of the country you are dialling from. So, for example, if you are in the UK, you would replace the + with 00, and, if in Australia, there are about 3 options but, afaik, 0011 would work. Remove 'no_spam_' from email address. |

Just in case that wasn't very clear... it would be 00 that replaced the + as TeleDiscount is a UK service. Remove 'no_spam_' from email address. |

The '+' is the accepted short-hand for whatever you need to dial at the start of an international call. This varies depending on which country you're dialling from, but is 00 from the UK. This is followed by the country code (971 is United Arab Emirates and 63 is Philippines) and then by the area code/subscriber number. For example, my 01926 number in Warwick would be written as +44 1926 xxxxxx in international format - 44 being the country code for the UK. Do your calls automatically get routed via Tele Discount, just by dialling the number? If so, for Dubai, just dial 00 971 etc. If not - if you need a prefix to access Tele Discount - dial the prefix and then 00 971 etc. -- Cheers, Roger ______ Email address maintained for newsgroup use only, and not regularly monitored..
