2wire Router Bt branded problems

I've used this router for about a week and it's unable to detect the ADSL
line. Has anyone else had problems with this router? It seemed to happen
almost immediately I changed the mtu (for a talktalk ADSL connection).
(Reset to defaults etc, still the same)

What do you mean by unable to detect ADSL line?
Are you saying that the router has permanently lost
synchronisation (usually indicated by a flashing (A)DSL
LED)?
If so, have you tried the usual tests? ie. replacing RJ11 lead and filter,
disconnecting everything from the line except the router,
disconnecting extension wiring if possible.

Graham.

If it's the 2700HGV, then check the user name and password. Some
firmware versions of this router are partly locked to BT Internet, ie
change the MTU in the wrong place and they revert to a BT user name.

Yes, (it is) thanks, I've already found that. However, theres a useful
upgrade around which frees them from this locking but also boosts the range
to illegal but useful levels of the wireless bit, apparently the power is
boosted to 400mwatts, it's settable in a range of 1 to 10,

I can imagine it would be greater still if it had a decent aerial: rather
that a bit of printed circuit board :-(

(it is)
