Changing the Caller ID of a BT line
Can anyone advise me if it's possible to have the outgoing caller ID of a BT
landline modified so that it shows another number. It's for a number that a customer of mine uses with VOIP, but sometimes they may need to use a landline instead, but they need to give the same nunver so that incoming calls get router correctly. If it were the other way around then it's easy as VOIP caller ID can be set to a BT landline provided you can prove you own it of course! (Remove the removetext if replying direct) John A |

Not sure if BT Retail offer it exclusively on business lines or not, though. |

The £60 set up fee has always put me off an experiment. |

Harry Broomhall has brought this to us :

Would that still apply if one had an LLU'd line from Sky? Would they be obliged to put up Chinese walls to stop information being shared between departments? -- <http://ale.cx/> (AIM:troffasky) (UnSoEsNpEaTm@ale.cx) 17:14:13 up 4 days, 19:13, 2 users, load average: 0.41, 0.40, 0.29 Yes. I'm just guessing. |

Yes - telcos are supposed to do this. However Sky ONLY (at present) LLU the DSL side of a line - the POTS side is left with BT. However I wouuld expect that BT will have rules as to what they will accept as a valid presentation number for any line! |
