Help needed with BT and line disconnected in error

BT disconnected a line of mine, instead of someone else's line, in error.
Broadband, the lot, has also gone.

I've spent three hours speaking to people in the UK and India, but no-one
appears to know how to resolve this.

Any ideas, please?

Many thanks

If your number is dialled what happens?

On a Sunday, you might, indeed struggle.

Who is your Service Provider?

The most you should need to do is report a fault to your voice service
provider - just don't mention broadband to them.

Posted this to another ng just this week .. seems it happens very
easily;!...

************************************************** *****

Just had BT in for a fault at one of our customers. Line went down
yesterday around midday, seemed you could dial in but no answer!.
Couldn't dial out line totally dead.

Seems someone else from BT took that number and gave it to a new
customer in a roadside cabinet, who perhaps whilst being able to dial
out on our customers number, obviously couldn't get anyone to dial in on
their new number.

Openreach "engineer" just snipped the cable and connected it back to
where it should go, our customer now restored. "What about your new
customer?" I asked?, "thats someone's else's fault to clear, not mine!"
came the reply!....

Hmm, must depend on who you speak to.

I had BT remove a line once and give it to someone else but wouldn't
give it back as they weren;t alloowed to just cut people off and gie
their line to someone else, even though that was what they did to us
in the first place.

I recently investigated a PBX fault where the network
provider (not BT) had given a number from a DDI range to
another customer. This put a block of 10 numbers out of
service. They gave the number back!

They will reconnect a end user if the jumper has been swung from one
pair to another in a cab (if they have not got a fault for the other
line how can they be expected to fix it, as they will have no
knowledge of number, routing or even address). If the routing has
been taken completely they will provide new routing for the fault they
are working on, it may take a little longer (depending on the state of
the network etc). In some instances the engineers have been told to
claw back all the routing, this causes an early life failure/repeat
report for the engineer who nicked it in the firstplace.

What they won't & indeed shouldn't do is just walk away & leave the
fault just because one end user has been given the line which should
go to the first
