Hi,

For the last couple of weeks I've been getting a couple of calls a day
to my mobile from this Halifax number: 01422 284250. I also got a
similar one from this Bradford number yesterday: 01274 832004. When I
answer they always hang up. Is this a common type of scam?

If so, how do I go about complaining? I've tried emailing my phone
provider Carphone Warehouse but they never answer and I don't really
want to spend time and money phoning them up. icstis aren't interested
as it's not a premium rate number.

Anyone know what's going on??? Thanks!!!

I take it by Carphone Warehouse you mean TalkTalk?

If so, its free to call Customer Services 0870 444 1820 number.

Hmm, thanks for your research. I don't know why the Lib Dems are
calling me, but I do have a Swinton Insurance policy, looks like I'll
be paying them a visit tomorrow...

Was that a typo?
or is there some special thing where if you're on their network you can
ring them on that 0870 number and you're not billed for it...?

No, it's the uncommon type -- the type that nets the caller zilch. It's
probably down to you being in a bad reception area. Sheesh not everyone is
out there trying to rip you off.
