Int or ext modem to record phone calls?
I want to record all my incoming and outgoing phone calls.
I have an ordinary domestic Virgin Media landline and run WinXP Pro. I need to get a modem. Is it better to use an external modem or an internal one (going onto a PCI slot)? |

Instead I'd recommend using a device intended for that purpose. If it's just phone calls you want to record, Maplin sell an adaptor which goes between the base and handset of a corded phone. Essentially you're paying £10 for some bits of plastic and metal that make the phone do all the work. There are also some which plug into the line, but watch out for dodgy non-RTTE- compliant adaptors! If in doubt, go for the professional stuff such as these: . Another easy approach I've used is a Test Telephone 286 with a suitable connecting cord into a digital recorder. HTH, Neil |
