fax to email / email to fax - recommendations?
Hi, can someone recommend a reliable fax-to-email service, preferably
with a UK number, that works from anywhere in the world? I recently left Demon as my ISP, because generally speaking they have become total crap. But their fax to email service always worked fine, so I am looking for something at least as good as that. (That the number was 0870 caused no difficulty). If you have used a fax-to-email service for several years, including for receiving faxes from around the world, and it's never been problematic, please let me know! Also I'd be interested in people's experience of email-to-fax, which I haven't used before. Cheers, Michael |

I should have added - I need a company which does not insist on direct debit, and which does not automatically take renewal payments at the end of each year, without having specifically been instructed to do so. Having to pay a year's rental for fax-to-email up front, and having to make card payments to keep my balance topped up, so as to cover the costs of any faxes I need to send, would be fine. Michael |

They also set up a Continuing Credit Card Authority without my authority - their 'have-a-nice-day' call centre in didn't see the problem with that. Anyway, I now use, and would highly recommend www.inweb.co.uk (based in Egham) - I have an 0870 and an 0800 fax-to-email with them, both terminating to the same number - I could also have a geographic number if I wished. I think you can choose between .pdf format or .tif Regards Simon Business Telecoms |

Following recommendations on here, I've used inweb for the last 2.5 years http://www.inweb.co.uk/ip_fax2email.html 0870 number has worked from Cyprus, Italy and USA -- J B |

IIRC you have to use it every few (?) months. -- J B |

They used to offer 0870, but seems that's stopped. 0844 and 0871 probably won't work from outside the UK. -- Items for sale: http://www.dodgy-dealer.co.uk http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/MetricNow http://ec.europa.eu/consumers/dyna/r...rchives_en.cfm |

I'm using http://www.popfax.com - you have to pay a little upfront for 3 or 12 months (19EUR or 50EUR respectively) - you used to be able to buy by the week but now there's a free trial. I've got an 020 number to receive faxes on - not had any problems receiving even from Sudan. You can choose to receive as PDF or TIFF in your email, and you can also see faxes on their website. > Also I'd be interested in people's experience of email-to-fax, which I > haven't used before. I don't think they have email-to-fax (it's a bit of a pain to do the authentication) but you can send faxes from their website. They take all sorts of formats (PDF, PS, Word, Excel, OpenOffice, JPEG etc) - you get to preview the fax before you send it. From EUR0.05 (to UK) to EUR1.00 (to Cuba) per page depending on destination (costs seem to roughly follow costs of VOIP calls to that destination). Again sending to Sudan has been fairly reliable, in fact more reliable than my decrepit paper fax machine. I've been using the service since (checks records) exactly a year ago today! Don't tend to use it very much, maybe once a month or average, but to me it's definitely worth it. (Note I quote prices in Euro just because they're round figures - they'll bill in whatever currency you want) Theo |

I should add that it's a upfront payment system - you pay XX EUR for N months subscription, or you buy credits for YYY outgoing faxes. You can topup by credit card with no surcharge, or Paypal or (French?) bank transfer for a small additional handling fee. There's no continuous credit/direct debit payment method. Theo |
