Jono is right, I used to have a Diamond Cable isdn line, whith a nice memorable number, when I moved to an area with BT as the only option I could retain the number by paying for call diversion, but couldn't port the number to BT *because* of the lack of Diamond Cable provision in my new location. |

Thanks for that. Another side effect is if you port a cable number to BT, then subsequently move to a non-cabled area, you cannot take your number with you, even if both addresses are served by the same BT exchange. |
