"cannot drop at current location"

I cannot get Word 2007 to drop...it will drag, but not drop. Which means I
have to cut and paste as I am editing, which is getting a bit tiresome.

Is "Allow text to be dragged and dropped" checked in Office button | Word
Options, Advanced category?

Also note that you can drop text (or anything In Line With Text) only where
there is already text. You can't drop it on a blank part of the page.

Newbie
I had the same issue and saw that it was related to having an MS Word Window open while attempting to drag and drop.

In my case, the window was "Find and Replace"

Once I closed the window, drag and drop worked as expected.
